Homemade Dark Chocolate Cocoa Mix Recipe…

Honestly, the process for making this homemade mix couldn’t be easier or faster. Simply throw the ingredients into the food processor and blend! I love the ease and lack of a mess! I also love that I can control the amount of sugar in the recipe, should I choose. For me, I lower the amount of sugar because I like a richer, darker, chocolate flavor. (I also firmly believe we eat WAY TOO MUCH sugar and it’s making us sick!) If you’d like to visit the site of the original recipe for this cocoa mix, please visit here.

I really LOVE that Homemade Dark Chocolate Cocoa Mix includes three different forms of chocolate. It’s a chocolate lover’s dream! I use 60% bittersweet chocolate chips, Hershey’s chocolate bars, and dark chocolate cocoa powder. The combination of the three makes a stellar blend! Remember, the better the chocolate, the better the outcome! I only use Ghirardelli bittersweet chocolate chips and Hershey’s milk chocolate bars and dark chocolate cocoa powder. Nothing generic!

The Process:

The food processor makes quick work of the cocoa mix. First, granulated sugar and vanilla extract get pulsed together. See how it looks like wet sand?

Next, the chocolate gets added. This step takes a little longer to process, as you’ll want to get the mixture as powdery as possible. This makes for a better melting/dissolving end result!

After blending the ingredients together (in the proper order, of course), I like to bag in clear gift bags and add the gift tags. (See below or click this link for the gift tags. Be sure to print on cardstock!) This year for Christmas, I even decorated mugs as part of the gift. My kids’ teachers enjoyed the festive gs, and I loved that the teacher gifts were simple, meaningful, and inexpensive. The perfect trifecta for gift-giving, any time of year!
